Abstract:

CFRP and titanium alloy stacked structures were widely used in aerospace and other fields. However, drilling these structures presents significant challenges due to severe tool wear caused by the substantial differences in material properties, directly impacting assembly quality and machining costs. Recent advances were systematically reviewed in research on tool wear during the drilling of CFRP/titanium alloy stacked structures. The review focused on elucidating the wear mechanisms of tools in both the CFRP and titanium alloy layers and their coupling effects during stacked machining. The analyses covered the influence of key factors such as tool material, tool geometry, and cutting parameters on tool wear. Additionally, the detrimental effects of tool wear on hole quality were discussed, and strategies for mitigating wear were summarized, including cooling and lubrication techniques and vibration-assisted drilling processes. The review also outlines tool wear monitoring technologies based on multi-sensor fusion and machine learning algorithms. Finally, future research directions were proposed, including the development of novel tool materials, intelligent tool design, optimization of composite machining processes, and intelligent wear monitoring systems. These efforts aim to provide theoretical guidance for achieving high-quality, efficient, and precision drilling of CFRP/titanium alloy stacked structures.

Key words: carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP), CFRP/titanium alloy stacked structure, hole-making, tool wear
