Abstract:

Major achievements in stream of variation(SoV)
methodology research and implementation in multistage manufacturing process
were summarized. The research initiation of SoV methodology was presented. The methodology development can be divided into two phases:initial learning and technologies development;an unified SoV methodology formation and perfection. The SoV methodology based on state space model was a mathematical model that linked the product quality characteristics with process parameters, and the variation propagation of quality features in each stage was described. The SoV model was applied to address the quality control issues such as the sensor placement and distribution, diagnose of manufacturing quality, optimization of manufacturing process and so on.Furthermore, the state-of-the-art of SoV
methodology was investigated. Finally, the developing trend of the methodology was discussed and some challenges were proposed.
