Abstract:
Influence of thermal effect on the flying attitude of magnetic head slider was investigated numerically. First, mathematical model was derived with consideration of thermal worm effect based on isolate gas equation. Then series analysis of influence of thermal effect on the slider flying attitude was carried out numerically, and numerical results were compared with experimental ones. It is found that the loading capability and pith angle increase significantly under influence of thermal effect, and roll angle changes little. In addition, velocity slip induced by thermal worm effect has no obvious effect on flying attitude. The comparison of numerical and experimental results shows that the gas lubrication for head/disk is not a completely-isolate process.
