Abstract:

In order to realize virtual assembly of modular fixture in network environment, the five-layer hierarchical information models of modular fixture elements were created. The virtual assembly technologies were put forward, including collision detection based on hierarchical bounding box trees and interactive assembly constraint matching. The hierarchical bounding boxes by partitioning model with binary tree were constructed. And a collision detection algorithm based on network was developed to detect interference and to compute the puncture depth. The assembly features of fixture elements can be captured from their functional surfaces and be matched interactively to adjust the position and orientation. And then the precise location and virtual assembly simulation of fixture elements were implemented rapidly. A web-based interactive virtual assembly platform of modular fixture was developed and examples were given to verify the feasibility of the above-mentioned assembly technologies. The applications show that the technologies satisfy the requirements of the real-time and interactive Web-oriented virtual assembly, and they are the foundation of collaborative assembly design of modular fixture.
