This paper is to establish a finite element model of orthogonal cutting by studying the key technology of dynamic constitutive relation of AISI-316L materials,contacts between tool and chip,chip separation,chip crack.Authors used large-scale finite element software ABAQUS to simulate the cutting process, then discussed and compared the simulation results in different geometric models.Finally it is indicated that the established finite element model is reasonable,and an optimal geometric model is obtained from experiments.
